Understanding Etsy fees
Etsy sellers can face several different costs on one order. For the US seller / USD example, Etsy lists a 6.5% transaction fee on the item plus shipping, a standard $0.20 listing fee, and US Etsy Payments processing of 3% + $0.25 on payment amounts. The calculator starts with those rates but lets you edit every relevant assumption.
Offsite Ads can add 15% or 12% on qualifying orders depending on shop history, capped at $100 per order. This example applies that rate to the item plus shipping, excluding buyer tax. Actual billing and VAT or other charges may differ.
Example with materials and packaging
Suppose you sell a handmade product for $50, receive $5 for shipping, spend $15 making it, $4 shipping it and $1 on packaging. The default US fee assumptions estimate transaction, processing and listing charges separately. A paid offsite referral changes the picture considerably, so compare the 0%, 12% and 15% choices.
Country settings and taxes
Payment processing and regulatory fees can differ by country. Some sellers pay VAT on Etsy fees, currency conversion costs or other local charges. This calculator does not apply all country-specific rules automatically. Use the editable fields and verify fees in the official Etsy fee guide and payment processing rates.
Are listing fees always only $0.20 per order?
Not necessarily. Multi-quantity renewals, listing renewals and other listing activity can generate more fees. Adjust the listing field to reflect the costs associated with your sale.
